Cooking LIVE with Macaroni Kid and NestFresh Eggs

Easy desserts, 30-minute meals and more you can make with NestFresh Eggs

By Charlotte Linde and Erika Veduccio May 9, 2020

We're all spending lots of time at home these days, so Macaroni Kid EATS and NestFresh Eggs thought this was the perfect opportunity to get families in the kitchen cooking together!

Charlotte and Erika, our resident foodie moms and co-publishers of Macaroni Kid EATS (and quite the comedic duo!) had so much fun on their live Facebook cooking segments sharing recipes using NestFresh Eggs and other items many of us have on hand in our pantries.

Missed it? Don't worry -- we are sharing the sessions right here for you ... and we've even included one of the recipes they made!

Char and Erika were thrilled to partner with NestFresh Eggs as like NestFresh, these moms believe choosing quality and healthy products for our families is incredibly important. You know if Char and Erika feel good about the source of NestFresh Eggs then you can feel good about feeding NestFresh Eggs to your family. Here's why our Macaroni Kid mamas love always-fresh NestFresh eggs:

Hens that run free

NestFresh hens are well-nourished and allowed to roam cage-free. That's because NestFresh believes healthy hens lead to healthy eggs. Not only does NestFresh offer cage-free and free-range eggs, but they also offer eggs from pasture-raised mama birds that are also certified humane, which means they get a minimum of 108 square feet of space per hen. That's a lot of real estate for a bird to frolic! As we said in our live segments -- if mama ain't happy...

It's a no-go on GMO

NestFresh proudly partnered with the Non-GMO Project to produce the first-ever Non-GMO Project Verified Eggs. Non-GMO testing is about testing each individual ingredient, not just a product as a whole. This means the food the hens consume is high quality.

NestFresh supports local farmers

NestFresh uses regional, family-owned farms to produce and supply farm fresh NestFresh Eggs in a local, sustainable system. Each family farm in their network is a local business that shares their commitment to animal welfare and stewardship of the land. Every one of these farms is inspected by auditors committed to animal welfare. This ensures that every NestFresh farm across the country meets its high standards for happy, healthy hens.

Easy Dessert

In this segment, Char and Erika each made a version of their Baked Canned Fruit Casserole. Erika made a pineapple bake and Char used peaches.

Baked Canned-Fruit Casserole Recipe

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 60 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 20 ozs. of your favorite canned fruit with juice. We've both used and love either canned peaches or canned crushed pineapple.
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 4 NestFresh Eggs
  • 5-7 pieces of white bread torn into pieces (leftover hot dog or hamburger rolls work as well)

Directions:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  • Put 5 slices of torn bread in the bottom of a greased casserole dish
  • Put all other ingredients in a food processor and pulse just until butter is broken into small pieces (about 5 quick pulses)
  • Pour over bread (if it looks a little too runny add more bread)
  • Bake for 60 minutes

Serve with ice cream or whipped topping.

You can use any canned fruit you have on hand in your pantry!

Hard-Boiled Egg Snacks

This segment included a pickled egg hack, pretty beet eggs, funny faces and other ways to use hard-boiled eggs. Don't miss the fun introduction of Erika's adorable assistant Dante!
