Summer Reading is new and improved for 2021! Track your reading this summer to earn virtual badges and raffle tickets all using the Beanstack app!

Plus, we'll have a mixture of virtual and in-person events throughout the summer including:
  • Outdoor Story Times
  • Planting a Butterfly Garden
  • Outdoor Books & Cookies Clubs
  • Story Strolls
  • Virtual BINGO
  • Craft Kits
  • Lego Build Along Challenges
  • ...and more!!!
Some dates to keep in mind are:
  • May 25 - Pre-registration opens - on Beanstack
  • June 1 - Official Start Date
  • June 5 - Tails & Tales Kickoff Event - in person
  • July 29 - Last Day to Log Reading - on Beanstack
  • Aug 2 - First Day to Pick up Prizes
  • Aug 16 - Last Day to Pick up Prizes

Outdoor Story Time
Mondays: 10:30-11:00am: May 17, June 7 & 21

Wednesdays: 4:30-5:00pm: May 26, June 16 & 30
Join Miss Nancy and Miss Naomi outside at the library for Outdoor Story Time! We will read stories, do fun fingerplays, sing songs, and more. Join us for a fun time and develop literacy and language while social distancing. 
Register Individually for Each Class
Tuesday, May 25: 4:30pm 
Grades K-5: Grab any construction materials you have at home (Legos, blocks, cardboard, paper & pencil, etc.) and build with us over Zoom! We'll reveal the secret theme at the beginning of the program. Feel free to showcase some of your original creations as well!

Only one registration required per family.

Saturday, June 5: 11:00am-3:00pm
Kick off the Summer Reading Program "Tails and Tales" by adopting a live or stuffed pet and donating pet supplies to a local Humane Society!
11:00am-12:00pm: Story Time with Chase from Paw Patrol
11:00am-3:00pm: Pet Adoption
11:00am-3:00pm: Stuffed Animal Adoption
11:00am-3:00pm: Pet Supply Drive
You can also pick up your Summer Reading 2021 informational packet.
All events are drop in.

Library Updates:

Hours beginning May 10th resumed back to our original hours pre-Covid:
  • Monday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
  • Tuesday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
  • Wednesday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
  • Thursday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
  • Friday: Closed
  • Saturday: 10:00am – 4:00pm
  • Sunday: 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Circulation Updates:
  • Fines will once again accrue for overdue items.
  • Items may be renewed again. (New materials cannot be renewed.)
Service Updates:
  • The Computer Lab has 2 computers available. Staff assistance may be limited due to social distancing at the computers. Time is limited to 45 minutes. NO EXTENSIONS. 
  • The Large Meeting Room is available as a Quiet Study Room.  The East and West Study Rooms are available for use. Maximum occupancy will be 2 individuals per room. Reservations can be made online. Go to our website (www.sgpl.org); go to How Do I? and click on Request A Meeting Or Study Room
  • Printer, copier, and fax machine services are available.
  • NO DONATIONS are accepted at this time and our booksale is closed. View more info on donations here. 
Covid-19 Safety:
  • Please wear a mask and use the provided hand sanitizer upon entering the building. We can provide a mask if you forgot yours.
  • If you are uncomfortable entering the building and would like us to bring materials to your car, call us at 630-466-4686.
  • Indoor and outdoor programming will be resuming. Masks are required during programs.
